Here he lies - the last SMAH member, his little transceiver covered partially with discarded table debris. Will his little radio be trashed with his unfinished meal? Is it the end of an era? Has Amateur Radio been abandoned? Have the cyber nuts, and cell-phoners taken over?
It's a dark day. No more will conversation be filled with ham jargon, and stories of contacts, and distances talked. Stories of gear built, and operated, and emergency operations performed. No more the talk of romancing the key, or tweeking the mike. It's over.
Or...is this all a joke because all the snow-bird hams have gone north, and Dick, and Roy had nothing better to do after the meeting broke up? Whatever, with no info accompanying this photo, if it were taken post-meeting, it doesn't look like too many attended this one.
Happiness is though, that next week the SMAH will meet as scheduled, and Ham Radio is still alive, and kicking.
